Instructions

A Contracorriente Films, a prominent independent film distributor based in Barcelona, has secured the Spanish distribution rights for M.A. Romero's new thriller, 'Hour and Twenty' ('Hora y veinte'). This significant acquisition precedes the film's global debut at the Málaga Festival on March 12th. Beyond domestic distribution, the company has also taken on international sales responsibilities, engaging in discussions with Latido Films, a regular collaborator, to orchestrate the film's global release.

The narrative of 'Hour and Twenty' is deeply rooted in true occurrences, plunging viewers into a suspenseful Christmas Eve. The plot centers on Manuela, an emotionally detached mother, who experiences the sudden disappearance of her six-year-old son within a bustling shopping center. As two Guardia Civil investigators delve into the case, Manuela's own perception of reality begins to unravel, hinting at a much deeper, more disturbing psychological struggle. The investigation intensifies when authorities unearth her past criminal record and discover that no one seems to recall her ever having a child, forcing Manuela into a desperate race against time to establish her innocence.

The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, with Goya nominee Macarena Gómez taking on the role of Manuela. She is joined by two-time Goya winner Roberto Álamo and three-time Goya laureate Emma Suárez. Additional cast members include Boré Buika, Alex Sorian Brown, and a special appearance by the renowned Spanish singer Álex Ubago. 'Hour and Twenty' is a collaborative production involving Luces y Acción AIE, El Orgullo Producciones, Producciones La Cochera, Womack Studios, Sorenfilms, and Shift Dif, filmed across picturesque locations in Torrevieja, Martos, and Madrid, with support from Canal Sur and Torrevieja’s Town Hall. Director M.A. Romero characterizes the film as an "unrelenting, high-concept thriller" designed to maintain constant tension while keeping the emotional stakes profoundly human, expressing deep satisfaction with A Contracorriente's partnership as a step towards a sustained creative alliance.

This collaboration not only affirms the quality of 'Hour and Twenty' but also highlights the aspirations of its creators to reach a global audience. The ambition extends to presenting the film in cinemas, on streaming platforms, and across as many international territories as possible, showcasing the power of storytelling to transcend borders and connect with diverse viewers worldwide. The dedication to cinematic artistry and global distribution embodies a forward-looking vision for the film industry, emphasizing the importance of impactful narratives and strategic partnerships to bring compelling stories to life.
