Music sensation Kendrick Lamar, who leads this year's nominations with six nods, including Entertainer of the Year, was celebrated for his groundbreaking Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. His innovative performance earned him the award for Outstanding Short-Form Series or Special, highlighting his significant contributions to both music and visual entertainment.

Meanwhile, the accomplished filmmaker and producer Will Packer received an award for Outstanding Literary Work in the instructional category. His self-help book, “Who Better Than You? The Art of Healthy Arrogance & Dreaming Big,” published in 2025, resonated with audiences for its empowering message and practical guidance.

The preliminary awards were presented during a virtual event spanning three nights, expertly hosted by actress and writer Angel “ThatChickAngel” Laketa Moore and actor and rapper Khleo Thomas, broadcast exclusively on the NAACP Image Awards’ YouTube channel. The festivities will continue with more non-televised awards announced over the next few days. The week will also feature special tributes, including the Mildred Bond Roxborough Social Justice Impact Award for Rev. Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant and the Vanguard Award for A$AP Rocky.

The 57th NAACP Image Awards main ceremony, hosted by comedian Deon Cole, is scheduled to air live on Saturday, February 28, at 8:00 PM ET/PT on BET and CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Distinguished individuals like Viola Davis and Colman Domingo will also be honored with the Chairman’s Award and the President’s Award, respectively, marking a celebration of excellence in various fields.
