Quattro Gatti Gin Becomes Official Spirit of the Venice Biennale

Instructions

The upcoming Venice Biennale will introduce a new official beverage, challenging the dominance of traditional Italian aperitifs. While drinks like Aperol and Campari spritzes typically offer respite to art enthusiasts, critics, and collectors during the bustling opening days, a gin-based cocktail is poised to become a prominent feature in the iconic city.

This year, Quattro Gatti Gin has proudly earned the distinction of being the "Official Gin" for the 61st International Art Exhibition—La Biennale di Venezia. This artisanal spirit will be readily available at cafes and eateries situated within the Biennale's primary locations, the Giardini and the Arsenale, as well as during exclusive events held throughout the professional preview days. The Mordant family—Simon, Catriona, and their son Angus with his wife Brielle—are the founders of Quattro Gatti Gin, and they bring with them a rich history of supporting the Biennale. Simon Mordant previously served as the Australian Commissioner for the country's pavilions in 2013 and 2015, and he, along with Catriona, played a pivotal role in establishing a permanent Australian Pavilion in the Giardini, a project that took a decade to complete and was unveiled in 2015. Their enduring relationship with the Biennale and their shared appreciation for the arts were key factors in forging this partnership. The family's move to Umbria, Italy, about 25 years after purchasing a home there, inspired them to create a product deeply connected to the local land and community, ultimately leading to their gin-making venture. Their commitment to crafting a distinctly Italian gin, utilizing local Umbrian juniper and botanicals, has already garnered international recognition, with their Classico and Olive Grove expressions winning prestigious awards.

Beyond its presence at the Biennale, Quattro Gatti Gin represents more than just a drink; its name, translating to "four cats," signifies intimate gatherings and quiet conversations, a stark contrast to the often frenetic atmosphere of the art exhibition. This philosophy offers a unique proposition to attendees: a moment of calm and enjoyment amidst the visual feast. The brand's inclusion as an official sponsor is noteworthy, as it joins a select group of only three other brands, including Bulgari, illy, and American Express, that hold this esteemed title. This sponsorship also entails the creation of a signature cocktail for the 61st International Art Exhibition, a refreshing concoction designed to be enjoyed throughout the day, promising an invigorating experience for all who attend.

The integration of Quattro Gatti Gin into the Venice Biennale marks a harmonious blend of art, culture, and local craftsmanship. It showcases how personal passion and a deep connection to heritage can culminate in a product that not only delights the senses but also enriches a globally celebrated artistic event. This collaboration elevates the experience for visitors, offering a taste of Italian tradition and innovation, and subtly encouraging moments of reflection and connection within the vibrant world of contemporary art.
